Codes And Conventions Of Film Opening

In a film opening the codes of it should be mostly technical because been produced by the computer of they have been edited by the computer. Sometimes you do see symbolic codes like the facial expression, clothing, setting, colour and the props. In this opening it is both because you see the characters at the start and it is all black and white you can see train and horses here is a example of technical and symbolic codes used at the same time.

This film opening has both codes because it is technical as well because you can see who stars in the film and the cast names in the background also it is symbolic because you can see horses, props, characters and setting. The title is edited because they have used fancy font. There is no logo's in this opening.

Most movies have a logo if they don't have a logo they just put a company logo on. The genre of this movie is adventure drama and fantasy. I know this is an adventure movie because you can see cowboys running around with guns. The title of this movie is called The fall. The convention of this movie will be action because you can see cowboys with guns. This makes the audience think that there is going to be violence and people are going to die.

The starting shot of this movie is an actor head comes out of water this makes the audience think what was he doing underwater. There are no inter-textual references in the opening scene. They tell us at the start of the movie the credits and the cast info for example on the 31 second it shows a man and it says next to him Justine Waddle which suggests that he is part of the main casts.The things you expect to see in an opening of a movie is the directors name characters name and cast name. The opening of The final Destination and The Fall is the same because after a short scene their names comes up.

The genre of this is horror and thriller. we know this because is there is lots of blood in their they have made it look like a x ray because it is too gruesome.

They were doing a technical because everything is done with a computer in x ray modern because It is too gruesome and they have used a computer to make it an x ray. They make the audience think this is a very gruesome movie and there will be lots of blood that is why they have computerised it. It is all technical nothing is symbolic.

The key signifier is that they have made real sound effects when they are getting hurt for example when they bones were breaking you could hear cracking sounds. They have made it in 3d to make it more realistic and make it feel like you were there.

This makes the audience think that this is a very violent movie and they couldn't show it in real view because it is very gruesome also this makes people want to go and see it because no other movie is that gruesome.

This movie is strictly for people 16 and above because this is too gruesome for little kids to watch I know this because i haven't seen a movie more violent than this.




The genre of this movie is Sci-Fi and Action I would expect computerised fighting.

In the intro of Tron everything is technical because it is all computerised because all you see is blue lights turning into a city. Tron is symbolic towards the end of the intro it shows it being real and symbolic they show a city. This makes the audience think that this is a movie with mixed codes.

The keys signifier that you can hear dramatic music all the way through. When the guy says " he got in" they shows a view of the city this can mean that they were trapped in a computerised world.

This sequence of this movie say it is going to have a lot of action and a lot of action in it and i think after seeing this intro this movie looks interesting and it seems like a different type of movie.

I think this movie is aimed at kids and adults because it is computerised and it looks like another part like avatar because there are two different worlds.







I think that the genre of this film is action and adventure there is lots of actions like explosions and fights. We know who is the hero is because they have a mask on and they rip their clothes and it got an I there.

The technical codes of incredibles all of the film is computerised because it is all animated.

The key signifier that they are wearing red tights on this shows they superhero’s or villains because normally red is an angry colour so it could represent a villain as well. The theme tune is very upbeat and fast so this kind of music would only be in a action movie.

The sequence would make you expect that there is more than one super hero or villains because they show all the characters in the opening scene.

The target audience is for kids because it is all animated and the movie is rated PG. i would expect comedy.

The genre of this movie is that it is horror and  three codes are murder, knifes and weapons you would expect people getting killed and thier would be voilence. In the cover it looks like they are only four main characters but they also show a shadow of people standing nect to them this might show that thier is some people that have died.Three conventions of this movie would be blood, violence and murder. The signifier of this movie is that the hero/victims are at front and the killer will be at the back. The donatives level are that there is going to be one serial killer might kill the people who are front of him or the people in front of him might kill him.  This poster also shows the audience that there is a killer and main character who may die or survive but they know there will be violence and blood.I think next to the three people is a cast of shadow this could show that they are the people who died. This also shows that this movie will be restricted to a certain age group because of the violence it contains.

The genre of this movie is action.
The convention of Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is is that their is going to be action  you are going to expect explosions, lots of people getting hurt, guns and fights.
The signifier of this cover is the the ape with his arm up means it is freedom he is copying rise of the statue of liberty and he is free.
The denotative levels is that there is one main ape who is showing that they have got freedom and there is lots of different apes behind him showing all of them have freedom.In the background in shows the city and it is in a very bad state this means they have ruined the city to get their freedom.
This shows the audience that they have ruined the city this makes the audience that there is going to be action and it is a disaster movie.
The poster shows that this movie is a action movie and a disaster movie because in the background of the cover you see the city on fire this shows their is going to be action and their is going to be disaster. The front of the cover their is a giant ape with his hand up this shows he has got freedom and i think he is copying the statue of Liberty by having his arm up and this is a sign of freedom.
